Kiyomizu-yaki is a representative pottery of Kyoto, and is said to have originated from the fact that there were many kilns in the Gojo-zaka area, including Shimizu Rokubei and Takahashi Michihachi. The production area is located in the Kiyomizu-yaki complex, Gojo-zaka, Imakumano, and Sennyu-ji area. The traditional craftwork designated by the governor of Kyoto (designated as Kyoto-made) is called "Kyo-yaki/ Kiyomizu-yaki". The Kiyomizu-yaki Village Festival is held every year for three days from the third Friday to Sunday in October at the Kiyomizu-yaki complex in Yamashina-ku. Many potteries and artists will set up shop in the Kiyomizu-yaki Complex. Many people from other prefectures come to this festival and it is said that tens of thousands of people come to this festival every year.
