Kobo-san (Kobo-ichi)
Kobo-san(Kobo Market) is a fair held on the 21st of each month at Toji Temple, which is about a 15 minute walk from Kyoto Station and is famous for its five-storied pagoda, a landmark in Kyoto.
The local people of Kyoto call it "Kobo-san".
On the festival day of To-ji Temple, on the occasion of the death of his master Kukai on March 21, Mieiku
was held at Miei-do on the 21st of each month which was once a year until 1239.
The event has been held every month since 1239.
A large number of street stalls and approximately 1200 ~ 1300 stalls will be exhibited on the premises of To-ji Temple, and will be open from around 5 AM to 16 PM sundown in the morning.
It is held and popular with the elderly, and there are various things like antiques, sundries, handicrafts, tableware, pickles, vegetables, bonsai, plants and stalls.
There will be a row of stores.
The tour will be held on rainy days, but the opening and closing times may vary depending on the weather.
Every year, Kobo-san at the beginning of the year in January is called Hatsu-Kobo(初弘法), and Kobo-san at the end of the year in December is called Shimai-Kobo(終弘法) and is very crowded.
