Keage Incline
Keage Incline
With the construction of Lake Biwa Canal in 1890, Keage Incline(蹴上インクライン) was used to transport ships between Kyoto and Shiga to Otsu. Because the ship cannot operate in the place where there is a large drop, it is necessary to operate on the incline on the bogie. It was in practical use until 1948. It is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot that is lined with cherry trees in spring and is visited by many people. It's about a 10 minute walk from Nanzenji, so I recommend you to go sightseeing with a set).
