Bamboo Forest (Muko City)

Bamboo Forest (Muko City)

Take no Michi (Bamboo Forest ,竹の径) is located in Muko City(Muko City), west of Kyoto Station. Muko City is located in Mukou Hills where bamboo shoots are produced. The bamboo trail continues for about 1.8 kilometers. There are bamboo on both sides and it is a popular place as a walking course. The bamboo forest in Arashiyama is very crowded because it is a popular tourist spot, but this is not a tourist spot. It's very quiet with few people. It is also recommended for people who want to take pictures of bamboo groves. However, the traffic is very light, but it is a road that cars also pass through. Please be careful when you go. Also, there is a park called Rakusai Chikurin Park in the middle of Take no Michi. There is a bamboo museum inside the park, and you can go outside from the other side. It is a museum where you can enjoy the various bamboos planted on the site.

A short walk down the bamboo path leads to the Bamboo Museum. Admission was free during our visit in May 2019.
On the site of the bamboo museum, stone Buddhist statues excavated from the former Nijo-jo Castle ruins are displayed.
