It is said that the year and the origin of the foundation of Uji-jinja Shrine (Ujijinya) is not clear. There is the site of Emperor Ojin's detached palace in this area, and Prince Ujinowaki no Iratsuko no Mikoto (Uji no Wakiiratsu Kono Mikoto) It is said to be the remains of Miyai. Uji-jinja Shrine was founded to enshrine the divine spirit after the death of Iratsuko Ujinowaki no Mikoto. Uji Shrine (宇治神社) is located nearby. The two companies used to be one. Before the Meiji period, Uji-jinja Shrine was called "Shimo-sha Shrine" and "Wakamiya" and Ujigami-jinja Shrine was called "Josha" and "Motomiya" The two companies are collectively known as "Uji Rikyu Myojin Shrine (Hachimangu Shrine)" After the Meiji period, it was separated from Ujigami-jinja Shrine. There is a power spot in the precincts and there is a rabbit figurine called Mikaeri Usagi.
