Horinji Temple
Horinji Temple (法輪寺) has a long history and is said to have been founded by Gyoki at the request of Emperor Genmei as Kadunoidera Temple (葛井寺) in 713 in order to pray for national peace, a bumper harvest, and prosperity of the industry; later, Dosho, a disciple of Kukai, enshrined a statue of Kokuzo Bosatsu and the temple's name was changed to Horin-ji Temple in 868. The main hall was damaged many times, and the current hall was rebuilt after the Meiji period. Events such as Hari-kuyo and 13 mairi are also held.
