Tenryuji Temple

Tenryu-ji Temple(天龍寺) is a Zen temple associated with the Ashikaga Shogunate and Emperor Godaigo, and is listed as the number one of Kyoto's Five Great Zen Temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It used to be a vast site with 9.5 million square meters of temple area and more than 150 sub-temples, but the original building was destroyed by fire many times. The Sogen-chi Garden (曹源池庭園) on the site is a Chisen Kaiyu style garden where the autumn leaves are beautiful in autumn and is a famous spot for the autumn leaves that many tourists visit from the area.
